HIPPY USA is pleased to announce that registration for Resilient By Design: 2021 HIPPY USA National Conference and nominations for the Avima Awards will launch on Friday, February 5, 2021! Behind the scenes, we have been diligently planning what we know will be a very memorable Conference! #Resilient2021.

What to Expect

The Conference will include three informative days of online breakout sessions, Ted-styled talks, plenaries, poster presentations, and more with thought leaders and industry professionals. They will share their expertise on critical issues, best practices, and research. 

Trending Topics in Early Education

Our home visiting and early education industries have several trending topics that will be included in breakout sessions and plenaries:

  • Parenting amid the pandemic
  • Equity in early childhood education
  • Digital access
  • Intimate partner violence
  • Dual-learners
  • Storytelling and data
  • Social and emotional well-being 
  • Compassion fatigue 

Student Showcase

We will introduce our inaugural Student Showcase, where an emerging generation of early childhood education leaders will have the opportunity to present their work across several topics through visuals and breakout sessions.

Starting at Zero: Reimagining Education in America Screening

On May 6th, we will host a screening of Starting at Zero: Reimagining Education in America. This documentary explores the power of investing in high-quality early childhood education so that all children and families have the opportunity to attain the American Dream. The film brings together the voices of policymakers, educators, academics, business leaders, pediatricians, parents, and children. It features five current and past governors who are champions of early childhood education: Governors Steve Bullock of Montana, Kay Ivey of Alabama, and Ralph Northam of Virginia and former Governors Jim Hunt of North Carolina, and Phil Bryant of Mississippi. Popcorn included!

Preconference, May 4th 

The preconference on May 4th includes two highly engaging workshops that will focus on parent organizing, higher education, and support systems for low-income parents.

Family-Focused Organizing 

Presented by Community Organizing and Family Issues , Chicago 

This three-hour interactive workshop focuses on building parental leadership, advocacy, and organization around issues that impact families, including early childhood education. Parents and family support organizations are encouraged to attend. 

Success in Workforce Programs for Parents

Presented by Aspen Institute, Washington D.C.

Parent-led, this two-hour workshop takes a deep dive into workforce pathways of interest to parents; and elevating two-generation (2Gen) approaches to workforce development pathways and policies that support families.

Dr. Avima D. Lombard Awards Ceremony

As the cornerstone of our National Conference, we will honor the work of individuals and organizations that invoke the spirit of HIPPY founder Dr.Lombard 

Stay Informed, Talk and Promote

We will keep you engaged through the HIPPY Hub, our virtual communication platform that will be launched in April. You will be able to access the Hub from your computer, phone, and/or tablet. No download is necessary.

Resilient Swag

All paid registrations will receive the Resilient swag, including a Conference t-shirt and more. There will be door prizes, virtual networking, themed days, and special recognition.

One of the Conference features will be videos on what it means to be resilient. Use your phone! Zoom and record it! Upload it here. The deadline for submission is 11 p.m.(CST), Sunday, April 18th.
